A new Composition book

I've been cleaning my craft room, so that means I've been CREATING! :)

Here are a few altered composition books I've made... The orange one was with Basic Grey papers, there are little gold corners on the edges of the book's front. I also used some of SU!'s Sticky Strip to adhere some tiny beads made by the evil craft woman (AKA Martha Stewart) in the center where I'd normally adhere ribbon.

I stamped a butterfly in Versamark on orange Bazzill, then heat embossed it in black. Then I stamped it on velvet paper in black and cut the image out, ran it through my Xyron sticker maker (I also call that my X-box) and paper pieced the butterfly wings to the image. Then I drew some veining on the wings with my white gel pen. I adhered the image to the book, and then tied an orange organza ribbon to a black leather Making Memories frame. Then I adhered the frame to the book over the butterfly image. Voila! An altered comp book is born!

There are a couple others, one I made for my daughter and one I made to sell.

I just realized

That I've been neglecting my blog... I couldn't figure out why the colors were all "off". And then I realized that my background has been removed! ACK. See what happens when you spend five months neglecting your blog? :)

So, I'm going to try to do better.

And I'm going to share a journal I made for my son. :) I love it! And so did he.

Father's day blitz

Well, I am off to Archiver's to make some Father's day cards for OWH. I'm going to see how many I can get done while I'm gone...

I will try to take pics of them since my friend Alex mails them and I'm going to send them with her, lest I forget to do it! :)

A card I made

So a couple of days ago, a friend posted to our Yahoo group a card that she really liked. I LOVED it. You can see it here. It inspired me to make this card:

I made it using some SU! inks, the little one inch squares that I've had for years, (finally opened a few of them last night) and stamp set by Inkadinkado. Please just don't ask me which set it was right now, because I can't remember and I haven't unpacked my bag yet, and I don't feel like it. Anyway, it's supposed to look like a sunset background with the branches stamped over the top. I used an oval mat I had lying around as a mask.

Self Challenge complete!

OK, so before tonight's crop, I challenged myself to use the paper from 10 years ago and somehow make it cute.

Well, I think I did it. I am going to be very brief, because I have church in the a.m. and I am exhausted and it's past midnight, in fact it's about 25 to one. So here it is. I colored the leaves a little and added some veining in them to make them a little more realistic, because you know, they just were NOT real looking at all. They're at least a little better now. I also added yellow stickles to the daisy centers, and diamond stickles to the edges of the daisies, leaves, and the letters. It's hard to see from the scan, I probably should have taken a picture, but let's face it... scan's take less time, and time is of the essence tonight. :) So here it is, my altered comp book!

OK, so I guess in this picture you can't see the stickles at all, but, well, they're there, I promise. Trust me, I am like the stickle queen! :) Anyway, there you have it. Enjoy :)

A Self Challenge

OK, when I was going through some 8 1/2 x 11 card stock in my bag (I am getting ready to go to a crop) I came across this:

CHECK IT OUT!!! This is TEN YEARS OLD according to the copy right date on it. SO, my challenge to myself was to make a comp book using the pieces of this. Some or all, it doesn't matter... SO, here goes. I am taking this to the crop with me tonight, and hopefully I will come back with photos of a finished product! :) Wish me luck!

OWH Blue and Brown challenge #2

ok, I don't like this card nearly as much as the other one, but I made a second card tonight, so I'm posting it as well. Here it is:

I used the houndstooth folder for the cuttlebug , more of that exquisite metallic brown paper, some navy blue card stock, some dark brown hemp, a neutral colored button, and that same stamp I purchased from the Archiver's hot spot. The hemp through the button was tan and I colored it with my navy blue Prismacolor marker. I'm not sure I like the hemp cord on the left, and I debated about pulling it off and re-scanning the card, but my friend said she likes it the way it is, so I left it. I told her I'd send it to her and she could use it for her father's day card. LOL *sigh* I know this happens to everyone sometimes, when you have something that you think is going to turn out different than it does, but it doesn't make it less disappointing. Anyway... this is the other blue and brown card of the night. :)
